I've been driving past this lock on the Thruway for over 10 years Im glad the Thruway Corpporation has finally invested in this very accessible part of our state history.

Lovely park with a lot of history on the Erie Canal. Would definitely recommend people to stop here and visit. Staff was very knowledgeable about history of the canal. Very interesting place

Free Admittance! Great place and very knowledgeable staff. Clean well maintained facility.

Very nice stop...very interesting information about the old Erie Canal lock system and life along the canal. Wonderful restored tavern and other buildings from the 1800's.

The visitors center has an overview of the canal history with maps and photos. Further into the park you can walk through the locks and an original construction 1850's saloon which is is the process of being restored. They have a great map of where people visiting are from each month and an a yearly map covering the world.

Interesting exhibit about the Erie Canal. Well done model and informational kiosks. Docent led tours provided. Clean, well maintained bathrooms.

An unexpected delightful educational historic spot. I happen across the bilboard advertising this Erie Canal Lock. It just opened in 2016 and is only open part of the year. I intended to eat my picnic lunch there take a short walk & hit the road again. But the people volunteering there were so knowledgeable and the place so interesting I spent 2 hours looking & walking about.. Well with seeing. I hope they continue expanding on what they currently have & open other historical sites about the Erie Canal.
